Chef's Diet Day Two

Breakfast
Three Cheese Burrito with Turkey Bacon

I put this in the microwave oven and remember thinking when I saw the cheese oozing out how this totally didn’t feel like a diet. I realized though afterwards that I was only eating half a burrito. I guess you can eat a lot of different foods, just not a lot of it. This didn’t heat up nearly as well, some part of the wrap were kind of dry and chip-like. The filling was great though, as was the salsa that came on the side.

Cheat: I had three pieces of dried apricots while waiting for the Time Warner technician to arrive. He’s late and I have to get to work!

Lunch
BBQ Chicken Platter with Onions and Cabana Rum Sauce

Not sure I was a huge fan of a cold chicken platter. The chicken was tasty and not dry which is a nice surprise given that the meals arrive in a cooler. I had lunch at 12:30pm while watching the Time Warner technical install internet in my new apartment.

Snack 1
Poached Pear with Amaretto Mascarpone

Loved this snack. This definitely didn’t seem like diet food especially with the generous amount of mascarpone that accompanied the poached pear. I had this a little after 3:00pm.

Dinner
Beef Stroganoff with Root Vegetable and Rosemary

I wasn’t hungry when I had dinner but I kept thinking about eating. I probably should have waited until at least 7:00pm since it’ll be a long night at the office but caved at 6:30pm and popped the dinner meal into the microwave oven. When I was done, I remember thinking that I wanted more and that the portions are definitely smaller than what I normally eat (don’t be deceived, for a relatively slim Asian girl, I eat a lot). I thought it could have used a bit more of the gravy but it was really tasty. I feel like I’m going to be hungry again in a few hours…

Snack 2
Blueberry Streusel

Chef's Diet Day One

Two other co-workers from work had started a meal-delivery service in January as part of their weight-loss new year's resolutions. They're seeing amazing results and I decided to give these plans a shot. Here's the story, I moved to New York a year ago in amazing shape after having a year off and spending 1-1.5 hours at the gym 5-6 week. After one year of sometimes 70-100 hour work weeks, seamlessweb dinners and way too many 3-course dinners, my clothes aren't fitting as great. Last week, after realizing that I didn't wear half the clothes in my closet because they don't fit as well, I signed up for a 5-day trial of Chef's Diet. I'm going to be trying Nutropia next and then Fresh Diet before deciding if this is something I want to pursue in the long term. I purchased a 5-day trial of Chef's diet from a group discount site for $129.

I woke up this morning and found a cooler of three meals and two snacks outside my door.

Breakfast
Power Oatmeal w/ Nuts Peach Compote Vanilla Cream

The oatmeal wasn't liquidy (that was just the vanilla cream) as the picture suggests. I don't usually even eat breakfast so I was quite full after this.

I got to the office and had a coffee with some co-workers. Instead of my usual skinny vanilla latte, I got a regular coffee, no sugar and just skim milk.

Lunch
Roast Beef Wrap w/ Creamy Ranch Dressing
I forgot to take a picture of this before I ate it. This tasted fine...not amazing, but not bad either. I liked that they had the dressing on the side since I didn't end up using all of it.

Snack
Feta Cheese w/ Artichoke and Potato Salad

This was a pretty substantial snack. I wasn't even hungry at 4pm when I had this snack but the program recommends you eat every 3-5 hours and it had been almost 4 hours since lunch. I was really impressed with the amount of Feta in this and thought it was delicious.

Dinner
Grilled Chicken Breast on Fennel w/ Cranberry Barley

Had dinner at 7:30pm more so because I was bored than because I was hungry. I thought this tasted great. When I was done, I wanted more but then realized that I should probably learn to eat proper portions. I totally want to start on the ginger cake but am going to be good and wait to eat that one hour before bedtime like the program suggests.

There was work drinks tonight and it was pretty hard not to dig into the sliders, chicken fingers and other appetizer platters at work drinks. I ordered a soda water and sipped it throughout the event.

Snack 2
Ginger Cake

Nothing particularly spectacular about this snack. It was odd eating at 10:00 pm but they recommend eating an hour before bedtime. I was going to wait until 11:00 pm but wanted to brush my teeth so I ate it earlier. The whipped topping was a nice touch.

I didn't feel hungry at all today. I thought about food a lot and kept looking forward to my next meal, but I definitely didn't feel deprived or hungry.
